Easton's 1st Haircut

It was snaps like these that led to the inevitable: Easton's first haircut...

February 10, 2015-- just 2 days before turning 7 months, but he probably could've used one sooner.

It was going to be just a trim so the poor boy could see, but then Blaine chopped off his mullet, and then we ended up trying to even out the sides.

Sure, the hair cut might be a little goofy, but he is still the most handsome boy to ever live.

I saved some hair for his baby book... but this is probably only 1/10th of what was cut.

Needless to say, he's feelin' pretty fly with his new doo

Easton: 7 Months

HO - LY - COW!

Easton is getting so much older! 

Each passing month brings new, exciting (sometimes heart-wrenching) milestones.

Most are amazing, however, this past month has been our WORST month when it comes to sleeping.

But hopefully it's just a phase that will pass... soon.

Lets focus on all the fabulous stuff:

First, he has started eating baby cereal and baby food fruits and vegetables. 

He is a good eater but hasn't showed much of an opinion about any of the flavors.

He sits up perfectly all by himself, but hasn't crawled yet. He gets on his tummy and either turns in a circle with his arms or kicks his legs like he's trying to swim. He has pulled himself up to stand (and then wobble and fall down) twice.

When he's in his crib 

(either waking up from a nap or supposed to be going down for one) 

he turns his body towards the side of the crib, pulls down his bumper, and looks out through the rails of his crib. So cute and funny... and sometimes naughty.

He continues to like Jake and the outdoors. He's been a little fussy lately, and when all else fails, we go sit outside and throw balls to Jake and Easton just lights up! 

One time I was holding Easton and Jake was misbehaving and getting on my last nerve and I was frustrated, but Easton thought he was hilarious. I'm excited for when they can play together more.

We still go on a walk everyday with Jake and the weather has been so nice. Lately we've even had some friends walk with us. Through all of our babysitting and playgroup get-togethers, it's fun to see Easton interact with other babies his age. He'll try to touch their faces or pull their handbands off... what a flirt ;)

And lastly, just days before turning 7 months, Blaine gave Easton his first haircut!

It was just constantly in his eyes--gel would only hold it so long! So he trimmed his bangs, and then the mullet, and then evened out the sides... 

I put some of the hair in his baby book and it was so long and so much!

Even though we've really been struggling with sleeping this month--hopefully its just the result of his teething--we love him more than anything and he makes us laugh everyday.

Horseback Riding

This weekend we were able to get in touch with Easton's roots--Oklahoma style.

Some of our friends invited us to ride horses at their parent's house and it was SO fun. 

They have a lot of land with horses and cows, and the weather was perfect. 

So we velcro-ed Easton's cowboy boots, zipped up his camo hoodie, and drove out to the country.

 ^^one of the horses was old and mellow and just wanted to be a part of everything, so he just went for a walk along side us. their chocolate lab is in the background as well because he wanted in on the action... everyone is looking at deer in the picture ^^

Taking pictures while on a horse was a little harder than it probably should've been, but it was too cool to not try. They took us to see the baby calf that was only born earlier that day! How amazing! I have a really, really hard time not assigning human emotions and relationships to animals...

Yes, I know what you're thinking. Blaine IS wearing shorts-- 

the weather has just been so warm and he gets hot all the time anyways. 

PLUS, he was the only one of Indian descent and his ancestors wore even less than that... 

 ^^ haha, yes, they ARE on horseback, 

but my horse was not in the mood to turn her body so I could actually aim... oh well ^^

 ^^ His parents own the horses. 

We went out for a second spin so the toddlers could ride, but Easton stayed and watched. 

Maybe next time, buddy ^^

 ^^ Do we look like naturals yet, or do we need to spend more time in Oklahoma? ^^

 ^^ What's that crap that Jake's rolling in, you ask? Well, I'm sorry to say... just that ^^

 Jake LOVED running free and smelling and seeing new places... poor city, pup 

After riding horses and before dinner, we tried out their rope swing across a ravine. We took a video, and watching it back, it didn't look nearly as scary as it did from that ledge. 

Once I was swinging it was SO fun, but it's just that initial jump-off thats scary.
