Easton's 1st Birthday!

My sweet baby boy turned ONE!!!
As soon as he woke up, we first ran through the streamers over his door--with an excited face like running through the sprinklers--and then explored the decorated entryway,  kitchen, and living room.

And then onto presents!!!

So many fun presents, but he had to have a bite of banana between each one.

^^And then the best gift of all was the handmade crocheted sweater my sister Alivia made him.
Read more about it on her blog

Such an excited boy with such a happy face!

I wanted a picture with my 1 year old, but this is what we got...

He didn't love the frosting... and then the more he tried to get rid of it, the more he got covered in it.

He kept trying to get to the funfetti cake, but picking up pieces would turn the yellow cake blue, which he would then have to get rid of. So eventually it became to stressful and not worth it, and he dumped his cake on the floor.
(Chocolate and red velvet are WAY better. Just wait.)

Then we went on our Sunday walk

And Wednesday we had his 1st birthday party! It was just a couple friends his age (give or take a couple months) from our playgroup, but it was fun to watch them play with the toys and interact.

The babies had snacks, the moms had lunch, and we played and opened presents. It was perfect.
Even though SOMEONE refused to smile in any pictures that day...
Probably just overwhelmed by all the festivities ;)

4th of July Weekend

Easton started off his holiday weekend with a little workout

Then we decided to go to the OKC Bombing museum. We've been to the memorial a couple times, but the museum is expensive so we never went inside. But the museum has recently been remodeled and we knew we had to go sometime before we moved away (yes, 2 years from now, but still) so we thought it would be a patriotic activity for the weekend.

It really helped us understand what happened. There was so many artifacts from the actual event 20 years ago--it was interesting but also so sad. In one section there were glass boxes filled with a bunch of watches they found in the rubble, another one with a bunch of purses, but the saddest of all was a bunch of little kids' shoes from the daycare.

We also saw lots of actual footage from the news that day and in the weeks following, as well as a tape recording from a water department hearing across the street. It was scary.

^^This one made me cry^^

^I tried to get a picture with him since it was the first time we gelled his hair,
but he was feeling too cool to smile with his mom^

The Survivor Tree

Then the next morning on the 4th, we went to the parade in downtown Edmond. Its been consistently ranked in the Top 10 Independence Day celebrations in the country according to CNN and Time and a bunch of those. Oklahomans are certainly patriotic!

He is an EXCELLENT clapper

We only lasted an hour and a half in the 100 degree heat, but it went on even longer. We had all sorts of parades, from country dancing clubs to the Boy Scouts to the Dairy Queen to the military to marching bands to fire engines to old fashioned army tanks to colonial people on horseback to the police in every type of vehicle possible to Native American tribes, and even a float from the DAR. Yes, Gilmore Girl fans-- the Daughters of the American Revolution!!!! I wish I could join.

^ Dad, I can't see! ^

^ How CUTE is this house?! ^

GOD BLESS AMERICA :)
