OKC Dodgers Game

One Saturday evening, we were getting ready to eat dinner and wanted to do something with our evening. So a half hour later, we drove downtown and went to our minor league team's baseball game. Blaine and I went to a game 2 years ago when we were the OKC Redhawks, but now we're the OKC Dodgers. It wasn't crowded at all for our first game, but this game was packed and there was only room in the outfield... which was better for us anyway.

No, I am not a big selfie taker... hence the hand in the picture.
We just needed a family shot after the game.

He was in TOTAL observation mode for the first little while. He gets that way in new places. He won't look at you or listen to you or anything. He's just taking in all the sights and sounds of the new place.

But once we got out to the outfield and he was able to explore on his own and have some snacks, he LOVED it. We even put him in his baseball jammies since we'd get home late and go right to bed.

He liked standing up on the fence, and no, he didn't get hit by any homers.
Then he noticed the little league boys a little further down, playing and cheering and trying to catch balls... so he slowly moved towards them.
He got so close, one boy even stood on his other side.
So then he felt confident enough to move a little closer. He was fascinated by them, but it was pretty mutual. They just didn't know what to do with him, so they stared at each other. And Easton tried to play with their gloves.
We practiced a lot of clapping, and bouncing to the music.
 And watched the sunset
It was a fun family spur of the moment night!
As you can see, we take our sports pretty seriously around here.

Easton: 11 Months

I can't believe my baby will be ONE next month! Easton is now a very skilled clapper and waver. And still a happy, silly, playful boy who loves his mom, dad, and dog.

Oh, and in addition to clapping and waiving, he can also give kisses.

His favorite cupboard to empty is the DVDs. I used to have them neatly organized, but after I have to pick them up several times throughout the day, that systems over. But I let him do it because he thinks its fun, no matter how many times he's done it. Sometimes it gets really crazy when he ends up standing on the cases and then having to slide into the splits.

The biggest change this month has been all of the new solid foods he's eating. We give him little pieces of a lot of what we eat--shredded chicken, sweet potato fries, bananas, graham crackers.

Don't judge us, but in desperate times (diaper changes, 20 hour road trips) we've let him watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Disney Junior and he really enjoys it. I mean, it captures his attention and stops the crying, so we've implemented that tool but tried to keep it as a back up only when necessary. But I may have burned the 2 theme songs onto a DVD for our drive from OK to UT.

He's also started to say "dada" and knows who it is, he just won't say it when referring to Blaine.

And he's almost walking! He'll hold our hand and walk all over, or circle the perimeter of a room, or even push the rolling computer chair around the kitchen and use it as a walker.

And lastly, as you may have noticed, Easton got a big boy haircut with the clippers (against his mother's wishes), which aged him 3 years. Still so handsome, but I'm not ready for him to be that old yet... or look that old.

In other news, however, May 2015 was a rough month for the Baker family. We were all sick on our trip to Utah, and then when we got home, sweet baby Easton got REALLY sick. It was heartbreaking to hold him and just watch him suffer. And trying to snuggle him tight when he had the shivers was the saddest thing! But he's much better now.

Easton: 10 Months

Easton is more active than ever and is crawling all over the place. He pulls himself up on everything and walks around a lot as long as he can hold onto something. He is ALWAYS on the move.

He also likes to babble and has even said his first word- "mama!" I think he knows what it means but he just says it for fun, not necessarily to get my attention.

He is always exploring and especially loves pulling on cords. We've had to baby proof the electrical sockets, but anytime a lamp is plugged in or a cell phone is charging, he will yank on the cord. He even broke a lamp one time. And speaking of technology, he still tries to type on the computer when he sees me using it or when we're FaceTiming family.

He has also discovered the magic of cupboards. He opens every single one he can reach, pulls everything out, and then moves onto the next one. (Guess I should get a picture of that)

He is a good eater and especially likes meat. And because his iron levels have been low (and so he can have a full tummy before he goes to sleep) he has a bowl of cereal before bed. He also snacks on puffs, but my biggest fear in life is a choking baby, so I've moved slowly with that... we had an embarrassing moment about that at church last month.

He has 2 teeth on the bottom and 4 on the top, they're just not all the way in. But since he's started to drink pediasure every night, we've started to brush his teeth before bed...
Well, the dental student does it.

He is also showing us more of his opinions, which is cute. We read books before going to bed, but lately he will only tolerate books with big pictures and one word per page, especially touch and feel. So we invested in 2 more of those books this month, as well. He just likes to relax and unwind before bed. Ain't nobody got time for all those words.
**He could really use a white book shelf for his birthday if you're struggling find a gift** :)

(He likes to stick his hand out for Jake to lick, but from there, Jake tries to go for the feet and face)

Can't get enough of his happy little silly self...
except maybe in the middle of the night :)
