In an effort to get caught up and continue the blog for my babes, here is a quick recap of May 2016:

We celebrated Oklahoma at the annual 89er celebration, complete with the Guthrie parade

We also went to OU's spring football game. We were really hoping the Sooner Schooner would be there since we LOVE horses, but we didn't see it. We did see Baker Mayfield though

A month would not be complete without a couple trips to the zoo. 

Two times that month stood out specifically:

One of them was when we went on a Saturday morning with Blaine. I go to the zoo all the time with the boys, but this time we did some of the things we don't usually do. Easton suckered us into taking him onto the carousel twice. He LOVED it. Then we played on one of the big playgrounds that I usually skip since I can't follow Easton up and down everywhere with Brigham

The other memorable zoo day was a last minute trip. We hadn't really planned on going that day, but we needed to get out. We invited some different people but no one could make it. So we decided to go see the sea lions for the first time. It was so exciting for all of us. We stood at the underwater windows for a long, long, long time watching them swim by. All I could think of that day is that I am so lucky to be able to stay home with my boys and witness and experience their excitement and reaction to new things. 

This is the Edmond Museum-- a free, local museum about the founding and history of our city. We love the children's area-- it's set up like a little town with a jail, train station, log home, newspaper office, bank, and market. The kids are able to wear real cowboy hats and boots, type on the typewriter and cash register, and sit in the saddle and on a stuffed horse.

And here is a peek into the rest of our daily activities:

We were on our way home from a walk one evening when we saw our neighbor in his driveway. We stopped to say hi and ended up visiting in his garage with all of his cowboy stuff. He is a sweet older gentleman and an Okie native. Not only did he show us several of his family's artifacts from the days of the land run, but Easton got to sit on one of his old saddles. And if you've asked Easton about his favorite animal in the past month, you'd know it was a horse. Even after we got back home, he straddled a pillow and kept rocking back and forth saying, "horse!"

Oklahoma has truly taught us what it means to be a neighbor. 

The people are the best thing about this state.
