Easton: 2 Months

He's almost 10 weeks now, but the 12th of this month marked his 2 month birthday.
Easton is growing so fast! At his doctor's appointment last Friday, 

he measured 14 lbs, 13 oz, and 23 inches long, 

making him in the 95th percentile in weight and 50th percentile in height = 100% perfection :)

He got his first round of shots and was so brave 

and settled down as soon as he was done and I picked him up.

Friday was also his official 2 month birthday! 

With another splendid month together, we have started to notice new things:

He has learned how to smile! He is a very happy baby boy--especially first thing in the morning.

 

 

We have started to settle into a schedule and my little boy goes down for naps all by himself! 

When he starts to get fussy or take long blinks, I lay him in his crib and he goes to sleep without having to be rocked or fed or anything. 

Sometimes he has his pacifier and sometimes he has his soothing sounds of ocean waves... and sometimes we scratch the whole thing and I just hold him, by either my preference or his or both!

But the point is, we can do it and are developing good skills!

He loves a warm bath where he can be free and kick his legs--especially in the big bath.

Month 2 also brought him his first college football experience, but you've seen enough pictures during kickoff weekend

We love him so much and are so grateful to be his parents!

by the way, I did not like this because it hurt my back, made both of us sweaty, and I couldn't see what I was doing

College Football Kick-Off

College football is a big deal in our family. Always has been. Always will be. 

And we're passing it on to this sweet boy. 

I love fall. The colors, the smells, the food, the football. Blaine hasn't let me decorate yet because he wants summer to last as long as possible, but me and Easton are getting ready. The whole culture and festivities of college football just warm my heart and give me a feeling of home.

(yes, it is a deep and dramatic thing)

Oh Kirk. I've always loved ESPN's College Gameday on Saturday mornings. I would sleep in Saturday mornings and wake up just in time to watch it. Then my family and I would watch games all day long and I would make a "fall treat"--basically a pumpkin flavored dessert of some sort.

I've met Kirk Herbstreit twice now. The first time was when he came to cover a Thursday night game with Mike Tirico  at the university my dad was the AD at. That's the picture above (Alexis and Mike Tirico were also in that picture but I can't find the non-cropped version.) Alexis and I left school early to drive over to my dad's office and meet him. 

The picture below was a couple years later when I was working as my dad's administrative assistant. 

I always wanted Kirk's job, but more of a sideline reporter for college football games. But then I changed my major once I got married because it wasn't practical for me to pursue that job while raising my babies and I decided I wouldn't have been satisfied as a local news reporter. Alexis is a broadcast major though, hoping to purse that same career, so hopefully she gets to.

We watched the BYU game on Friday night. We need to get him a Cougar outfit, though.

He has OU outfits, but needs an overall football outfit. 

These leggings were a gift, though, and are all we had. 

And this outfit was way too hot, but I put him in it long enough to take some pictures. 

Blaine and I bought it on a whim one night in Provo before I ever got pregnant.

Alexis and Craig drove from Florida back to Utah, so we were able to be with them for one night along their road trip. Luckily it was Saturday night, so we had a football party!

We had pizza, chips & homemade queso, killer brownies, and layered jell-o bars, because in the words of Julia Child, "A party without {Alayna's yummy treats} is just a meeting."

That took all day, but was super impressive.

Never enough time with family, but it was a great start to football season.

Being Blaine's Patient

Now that Blaine is a DS2 (aka second year dental student, sophomore, etc.), he can now start working on patients in addition to his mannequin. He needs to have a certain number of patients so he can meet all the requirements, so I am his first patient! Family is the best to start out on because I won't hate him if he pokes me or gags me...

Before I had my first appointment with him, though, I first had to have a screening appointment with a DS4. Easton was a HUGE hit! While I was being worked on, one of the professors came over and took his carseat over to her desk and rocked him and talked to him. Then the front desk lady asked if she could hold him, so she did--for an hour! She even checked people in one-handed so she could hold him. It was nice because he slept and was happy my whole appointment and she told us to come visit every time we come to the school. 

The school is newly remodeled, so everything is brand new and nice!

I HATE getting impressions taken--I've always been a big gagger...

Later that night it was time for Friday Night Lights! My brothers' game was streamed live over the internet so we hooked it up to the TV and watched them on the big screen. Austin is a senior and plays safety and wide receiver #20. Aaron is a freshman and is the quarterback #3. It made me so homesick--I can't wait to go watch their game next month!

Maybe Easton will have a little brother and they can play on the same teams together. Here he is sporting one of Blaine's old high school jerseys :)
