Montana Summer Trip in a Nutshell, part 2

We also took Easton camping for the first time. I'm not joking or exaggerating--he LOVES being outside. Thats the first thing he wants to do when he wakes up--he makes a noise and points outside. So he really liked camping, just not the sleeping in a tent. So pretty much he's like everyone else. The hiking and swimming is great, but then take me home to sleep in my bed. It also happened to rain one night and one of the days turned out to be the coldest one of the summer. The campout, however, was where he first started liking boats and motorcycles. When he doesn't want to eat, we have to distract him somehow and then he'll eat a lot. So while we were there, he would have to sit on the big wheel half the time in order to eat. He liked it when we bounced it up and down and said, "vroom, vroom."

These were taken after our first night... it was rough. His face says it all ;)

Of course we made a visit to the Kootenai River and took Easton on the swinging bridge--he was so brave, he wanted to walk on it himself ;) We put our feet in the cold water while Blaine and his dad fished. I was trying to teach him to throw pebbles but he just drops them over his shoulder. Then he kept trying to put them in his mouth, so first he would laugh when I would tell him no, and then he would yell when I took it away from him.

Blaine's mom also taught me how to can peaches since they are so delicious. We miss being able to take home frozen elk meat, homemade huckleberry jam, and canned peaches when we would drive home to Utah. We also went to the quilt cottage and got some cute fabric for baby boy #2's blankie.

We left the boys at home and drove to Whitefish to have dinner and see Ring of Fire (a Johnny Cash musical) with Blaine's mom, grandma, and aunt.

Montana Summer Trip in a Nutshell, part 1

Easton loved Montana because he could be outside almost all day everyday.
As soon as he woke up, he would point to outside and try and get someone to take him there. He'd explore the yard or tap the wind chimes and look for dogs.
Whenever he would see a deer he would point and say, "Jake!" In all fairness, they are the same color and similar size.
Easton loves dogs, especially his own.

One day we went exploring in the Ross Creek Cedars and swimming in Bull Lake. The water was a little chilly, but he didn't care. Plus, he really liked watching the other kids playing and wrestling in the water.

Another day we hiked to Granite Falls and had a dinner picnic.
Blaine caught a fish, we stuck our feet in the freezing water, and enjoyed rotisserie chicken and grapes. Then Easton fell asleep in the pack on the way out and Blaine had to walk funny for an hour to keep him comfortable and asleep on his back.
