Montana Summer Trip in a Nutshell, part 1

Easton loved Montana because he could be outside almost all day everyday.
As soon as he woke up, he would point to outside and try and get someone to take him there. He'd explore the yard or tap the wind chimes and look for dogs.
Whenever he would see a deer he would point and say, "Jake!" In all fairness, they are the same color and similar size.
Easton loves dogs, especially his own.

One day we went exploring in the Ross Creek Cedars and swimming in Bull Lake. The water was a little chilly, but he didn't care. Plus, he really liked watching the other kids playing and wrestling in the water.

Another day we hiked to Granite Falls and had a dinner picnic.
Blaine caught a fish, we stuck our feet in the freezing water, and enjoyed rotisserie chicken and grapes. Then Easton fell asleep in the pack on the way out and Blaine had to walk funny for an hour to keep him comfortable and asleep on his back.

Easton's 1st Birthday!

My sweet baby boy turned ONE!!!
As soon as he woke up, we first ran through the streamers over his door--with an excited face like running through the sprinklers--and then explored the decorated entryway,  kitchen, and living room.

And then onto presents!!!

So many fun presents, but he had to have a bite of banana between each one.

^^And then the best gift of all was the handmade crocheted sweater my sister Alivia made him.
Read more about it on her blog

Such an excited boy with such a happy face!

I wanted a picture with my 1 year old, but this is what we got...

He didn't love the frosting... and then the more he tried to get rid of it, the more he got covered in it.

He kept trying to get to the funfetti cake, but picking up pieces would turn the yellow cake blue, which he would then have to get rid of. So eventually it became to stressful and not worth it, and he dumped his cake on the floor.
(Chocolate and red velvet are WAY better. Just wait.)

Then we went on our Sunday walk

And Wednesday we had his 1st birthday party! It was just a couple friends his age (give or take a couple months) from our playgroup, but it was fun to watch them play with the toys and interact.

The babies had snacks, the moms had lunch, and we played and opened presents. It was perfect.
Even though SOMEONE refused to smile in any pictures that day...
Probably just overwhelmed by all the festivities ;)
