I have less than 2 months left in this second pregnancy and I'm at the point where everything is draining. I've started to sneak in a couple of naps a week (which is definitely not the norm for me) and even though I am so uncomfortable and tired all the time, I don't want the time to pass too fast because Easton is just a baby still, too. At first I was sad that we won't be traveling or having any visitors for the holidays this year, but now I'm excited to have some special "family of three" time at home. Anyways, along with the physically draining things, some days are just emotionally draining.
But let me be clear. Its only SOME days. I've always been a sensitive person when it comes to kindness and people's feelings, but pregnancy magnifies my emotion response.
But instead of focusing on the negative, let's accentuate the positive.
(You may remember last pregnancy's parable of the water bottle given to me by
the nice cowboy on the freeway... Well if you were my student at that time, then I'm sure you remember. But anyways, this is pregnancy #2's equivalent)

A couple weeks ago I was in the waiting room at the doctors office reading a magazine. Two articles literally brought me to tears, but I tried to wipe them all away before I got called back. One was about dogs that have saved lives or been instrumental in solving crimes. The other article was about an elderly couple in Utah who had had rough childhoods and had so much love to offer, so they've adopted 18 severely mentally or physically handicapped kids who are "hard to adopt" and devote their life to taking care of them and loving them. What an example of selfless, Christ-like love.
Then it was rainy when I was leaving my appointment, so a nice dad (am I the only one that refers to other men my dad's age as a "dad"?) walked me to my car with his umbrella and asked me how my pregnancy was going and all that. Then I got home from my appointment and my sweet neighbor who had been playing with Easton had done all my dishes.
Then the day I flew home from Philadelphia, I was overwhelmed because Easton is so active and I'm so big without much of a lap for him to sit on. Plus I was worried because I hadn't felt my baby move too much the last 36 hours since it was chaotic and busy with all the gameday and football stuff. So the nice man checking my bags didn't make me pay for it because he felt sorry for me (probably because he saw me crying to my mommy). Then going through security, the lady was rude to me, so once I walked away, again tears. Then flying was hard, but nothing I couldn't handle. But when Easton fell asleep for the first 30 minutes of the second flight, I cried tears of relief. Then again, tears of gratitude came when we walked off the second flight and the bag guy had already set up the stroller for me, so it was all ready to just stick Easton in and push. RARELY do I cry happy tears, but sometimes kindness or little acts of servce ARE rare, so it catches you off guard. I must say, though, generally speaking, Oklahoma is by far the nicest place I've ever lived or traveled to.
There are a lot of rude, selfish, and mean people in the world.
But there are a lot of nice people. Those quotes about how "it's nice to be nice to the nice"
and "BElieve THEre is GOOD" are nice,
but my favorite is:
"There are lots of kind people in the world. If you can't find one, be one."
So thank you to the kind people that have made little differences
in my big, tiring, pregnant life lately.
Just something to think about.
And since no post is complete without a picture, here are 2 sweet boys who will be raised to know the supreme importance of kindness, selflessness, and charity.
